Drumheller Institution is a medium-security facility with a minimum-security Annex located on the outskirts of
Medium-security inmates are housed mainly in four units. The Annex consists of nine living units with four shared bedrooms.
Personal development programs and general and vocational education programs are available. The Institution has also developed and implemented an employability skills acquisition program. Programs adapted to Aboriginal culture and spirituality are also available.

Calgary Correctional Centre
Opened in 1958, this facility accommodates 386 sentenced male adult inmates. It includes 38 intermittent beds (for inmates serving their sentences on the weekend) and 56 beds for inmates in protective custody.

Built in 1983 this centre accommodates 387 male and female sentenced and remanded inmates. The centre can also house persons intoxicated when arrested.

Built in 1986, the Medicine Hat Remand Centre is a multi purpose 103-bed correctional facility that accommodates male and female sentenced and remanded adults. Each month about 60 to 80 intoxicated persons are temporarily detained under the Gaming and Liquor Act.

Opened in 1990 on the Blood Reserve in Standoff, Kainai Community Correctional Centre is a 24 bed minimum security correctional centre for Aboriginal inmates.
